Awaiting the Next Pagerank Update

The SEO community has been on edge for weeks now in anticipation of the next Pagerank update which was first predicted to take place mid July. The last Pagerank update took place at the end of April and the updates seem to be spreading thinner and thinner each time. The past few updates have taken place around once a quarter but each one tool slightly longer than the previous.

It is important to note that the actual Pagerank of a site is updated constantly and according to statements by Matt Cutts at various conferences and through his blog most sites can feel the impact of a new link within two weeks. The only thing that really happens with the Pagerank update is an export of the current values to the Google toolbar making it visible to the public. Some are even raising doubts as to whether the Pagerank updates provides a current snapshot of Pagerank values or whether it too has a delay showing a lightly older snapshot.
