Virtual Private Servers

It is fairly easy to get a website up an running today. What used to take several hours of hand coding and development can now be easily achieved with standard content management systems and online publishing platforms. But once a site passes a certain technological threshold and offers something a bit more advanced than your typical informative site you usually need to develop a tailor made solution. This is not only more complicated but can cost a lot too.

One of the differences in expenses between a small site and a large dynamic custom built site is their server requirements. A typical small website can do just fine with a shared hosting solution but once you need things like direct root access or require more control over the server and the programs installed, a shared hosting plan just doesn’t cut it.

The problem is that a dedicated server can cost as much as 100 times the price of a shared host (!) which places a heavy strain on most sites. But another option which is often overlooked is using one of the Virtual Private Servers available at networksolutions.com. Using special emulation software, a Virtual Private Server provides users a complete dedicated server experience and grants them full access to the server. While there are other virtual servers on the same machine a webmaster wouldn’t even know the difference if you hadn’t told him since Network Solution’s VPS’s isolates the user and grants him the exact same access as a dedicated server would. The prices of VPS’s are typically a quarter to a third of the price of a dedicated server.
